However, an elementary school in Hornell now carries the name Lincoln.

Mary Jane OdgerThomas RawHe married  Mary Janetta Raw124,125 1890 in Minnesota126,127,128, daughter of Thomas Raw and Mary Odger.

Notes for Carl Sumner Hendershott:
Carl's cousin is reputed to be a drummer in the famous painting "The Spirit of '76" (1874) by Archibald M. Willard (1836-1918). Carl's father or grandfather came from around Luxembourg (The country, the town in the country of the same name, or the town is Wisconsin?). Carl died on the same day Will Rogers died. The 1900 U.S. census lists Carl as living in Minnesota, Benton County, Maywood Township (near Ronneby, MN) with his wife Mary, son Herbert G, and as yet unnamed son Wendell. Florence Marcella Jones tells me she recalls that Carl had two sisters, one wealthy & one not.

Notes for Mary Janetta Raw:
Mary's birth date could be Aug 16, 1871. I had Althea Rita Bright as her mother - but do not know were I got that from. Mary Jane Odger is listed as her mother on her death certificate. Mary is in a photo with 3 sisters Eleatha, Bell & Sid. That picture contains Sid "Hendershott", but I think these are all Raw women. The broach on Mary's collar contains a picture of a male and may give a clue as to her true relationship, but it is too small to make out, even with computer enhancement. Her middle name is frequently said to be Jeanette, but I believe Janet or Janetta is correct. The opening text from a handout at her funeral reads, "The daughter of Thomas and Mary Jane Rawe has gone to the world beyond, summoned out of life by Him Who created her. Mary Janetta Ruth Rawe was born in Lamoure, Wisconsin on December 1, 1872. She was baptized into the Christian faith in 1874. In June of 1895 she was united in marriage to Carl Sumner Hendershot, at Laverne., Minnesota. The couple resided in that state until Mr. Hendershot retired from the teaching profession in 1916, when they moved to Solon Springs, Wisconsin, coming to North Dakota in 1929 in search of better climate for Mr. Henderschot. Mrs. Henderschot was preceded in death by her parents, brother Hames Rawe, and sisters Estelle and Aletha, all of Dominion City, Manitoba, Canada, and by her husband who passed away at Bismarck in August, 1935. She is survived by three sons, Bert., of Baldwin, Wendell., of Bismarck, and Harlow of Baldwin; one sister, Pricilla Dunbar, of Twin Valleys, Minn; and three brothers, Joseph Rawe, of Dominion City, Canada, George Raw, of Bay City Oregon, and Matthew Raw, of Dominion City Canada, and eight grandchildren and one great grand-child." Note that there are many spelling errors in the document. Mary's death certificate states that she was never a member of the Armed Forces.
